Composting Human Waste
A trial project carried out in the Thames Valley, UK, on makimg compost from sewage solids. Human waste, dried to a 30% water content, is mixed with straw (locally purchased bale ends, etc - unsuitable for farm use) and allowed to stand, with occasional turning by specially adapted vehicle, for 8-12 weeks. The resultant mixture becomes a light odour-free and sterile compost, suitable for farm or garden application
