Ultra-high Vacuum Atomic Force Microscope
Ultra-high atomic force microscope in the nanotechnology department at Leicester University, UK. The microscope operates under a vacuum equivalent to many orders of magnitude less than the atmosphere of the moon. It is currently being used to study the Casimir Force, which is an important limitation on the effectiveness of nano-machines.
