Fluorescence in-situ hybridisation (FISH) in Down's Syndrome research
MIcrograph of the chromosomes carried by a cancer patient showing segments of some chromosomes trans-located to other chromosomes. In this case parts of chromosomes 2 and 3 which have been stained to fluoresce in UV light are translocated and such sharing of chomosomes are associated with some genetic variations giving rise to hereditary diseases such as Down's syndrome and some cancers.
