Fishing for crystals
Light microscope view of a fine wire loop being used to harvest crystals of DNA from a solution. The crystals in the plate under examination and showing on the monitor screen are of a 10 base-pair section of DNA. Each crystal is aproximately 60 microns across. Such organic crystals can be analysed by x-ray diffraction to determine structures and morphology for pure research and for drug development.
