Stem cell protector drug
A glass vial of a genetically-engineered stem cell protector drug on a DNA autoradiogram which refers to the gene from which it was made. The drug is used in the treatment of some patients undergoing treatment for cancer as it lowers side-effects from chemotherapy which would damage the bone marrow, which forms an important part of the immune system. Photographed at British Biotechnology plc, Oxford.
