Tissue perfusion as a drug testing method
Specimens of human colon tissue held in a microphysiometer for testing a pharmacueutical agent by immersing in a solution containg a drug under investigation whilst electronic equipment measures effects. The monitor displays results of a previous test showing changes in the tissue by measurement of pH values. The work is being carried out for a pharmaceutical company. This method of data collection reduces the number of tests which need to be carried out using live animal tisssue. Photographed at Pharmagene Laboratories, UK.
